Bolts right into a 2004 4runner tailgate. The old one was just looking tired. This isn't as long as OEM by like an inch or 2 but not a problem since I really just grabbed it for the look.

I removed the metal part and used old pin to attach in Tahoe.

I dd a 2" lift on my Subaru Outback, I made sure my wife and kids could climb up no problem and everything was great or so I thought...Well I forgot about the rear hatch and my 4'11" wife unhappily texted me from the grocery store saying she was having to jump as high as she could to reach the handle, oops haha. My jokes of "but you look like a tiny basketball player" didn't land well either. So anyway ordered this strap, custom fit it with a bolt and she doesn't have to do her mini leap anymore and she's happy again.

Being a shorter person I found it difficult to pull down the tailgate if my crossover vehicle si attaching this strap to the interior made it easier to reach up and pull it down.

Unfortunately this didn’t work out for me. I couldn’t figure out to close the hatch without the strap getting caught in the mechanism.

This strap did the trick. Husband attached and now I can reach up pull the strap and close the trunk without getting out a step stool. I am 5 feet tall and there was no adjustment to adjust this so hope Subaru sees this as they had no solution for me. Thank you Amazon!!
