These are very basic sketchbooks/notebooks. The interior is blank, cream-colored paper that feels decent quality. Covers are thin cardboard. Pages are sewn in. Seems securely made, no complaints.EDIT: now that I've been using these for a bit, the flimsy covers are really beginning to annoy me. the notebooks bend really easily and the inner pages have gotten creased, too. a flexible cover is fine but these are like one notch up from normal-weight paper.

We got these for an upcoming overseas trip, and I have tried them out a bit before our departure. The notebooks are compact enough to take on the plane, and provide lots of pages for drawing or journaling. I really like this type of book for keeping everything organized, otherwise I tend to jot down notes on pieces of scratch paper, and then I can't keep track of what I did with those pages! This paper is pretty much perfect, accepting ink, pencil, colored pencil, and markers equally well. I didn't run into any feathering (where the ink spreads a bit into the paper fibers, producing a "feathered" appearance). Instead, all of the lines I drew were smooth, with crisp edges. There is the expected bleed, meaning that the paper is thin enough that dark inks will show through the other side, especially noticeable with black marker. It's no worse than with other papers, and to be expected. I'm very pleased with these sketchbooks. The quality is excellent!
