I have other book stands but those are a more study bamboo wood type material. This is a thin plastic. The stand, the folding parts, they are all very thin material. The ledge they give you to rest your book on is not very wide. I tested it with a very heavy teachers manual and it did work, but it didn’t feel super secure. I don’t know how long this will last with daily use because it doesn’t feel super sturdy at all. I do like the color, and it is lightweight if you need to travel with it.

I love book stands and this one is satisfactory. I wish it was 11-inches high rather than only 9.5 because it is too low for a full-size 8.5x11-inch sheet of paper without using a cardboard backing to keep the paper firm. The tilt is adjustable, which is useful and the ledge at the bottom is a good feature, as are the clips to hold the paper in place.

This book stand did not any book that weighed more that 5-6 ounces. It does well to hold papers.
