Good pad for quick notes and tucking a page or two into another journal. Easy enough to tear at perforation, though the spine/top fastening is not as heavy as I expected - it's more like the fifty sheets were stapled together and then a piece of colored tape was folded over the top, so it's not as solid a binding to tear against when not using a hand each to hold and tear. (Like a legal pad can be torn one-handed.) The paper is about the same thickness as printer paper. There is some minor ghosting with ballpoint pen, but I haven't had trouble with any ink bleeding through. I haven't tested heavier inks or markers yet.The 5mm grid has larger dots than I was anticipating, but they aren't ugly. Anything that isn't going to be using the grid (like sketching/art) will be visibly dotted. They're nearly a full millimeter across, which is fairly visible no matter what you're using the paper for. At $2 each, however, it's great value. Any of the other issues can be worked around (holding it fast while tearing, choosing lightweight inks, etc).

These pads are not 5". They are 5 1/8". This may not be a big deal for you but I need these to fit in my pad cover and these do not fit.

I purchased these for a small notebook I carry for taking notes and for sketching. The dots make it easy to write my notes, but the lack of lines eliminates those from my crossing through my sketches. The dots are not annoying compared to solid lines cutting across the paper. I've used graph paper before for notes and drawings (which helps with scale), but I can now achieve the same thing as the graph paper, sans the vertical and horizontal lines. The paperweight/thickness is good--not chinzy or likely to tear easily. I am extremely pleased with the pads as they will function great for however I choose to use the pads.

Slightly heavier than average paper, and perforations at the top always tear cleanly. Can't ask for much more from a pad of paper.

The size is exactly what I wanted and the quality of paper was higher than I expected. I've never had a pen that didn't write nicely on these pads.

I am a chronic note taker and I absolutely love this tablet of paper! I have this size as well as tablets in 8x10 size.But being an Quality Engineer I am just naturally drawn to the boxes of the tablet.
