PRODUCT DESCRIPTION: says "Sturdy Wooden Base". Not so! It's all METAL. No wood to be found anywhere on this cutter.PRODUCT OVER ALL: very sturdy and strong yet doesn't weigh a ton. It only weighs about 12lbs. BUT you can feel the quality, and see it, too!ACCURACY: Being a perfectionist, I immediately tested the accuracy. Did some 4 inch x 4 inch cuts and used a machinist ruler for measuring accuracy of the cuts. Right on the money all the way around! Also tried some 2 inch by 8.5 inch cuts. Again, right on the money all the way around!PAPER WEIGHT: Tried cuts on 24lb, 32lb and some heavy 100lb Hammermill premium color copy cover paper. Worked like a charm on all three with very clean edge cuts. No ragged or frayed edges. Cut only a few sheets at a time.MAX CUT: The most I cut at any one time was 20 sheets of the 24lb paper and found it to be a little too much even though everything cut cleanly and perfectly straight. I didn't like the amount of pressure I had to exert for cutting those 20 sheets. Of course, had I been using 20lb paper it likely would have been easier with less resistance.AUTO PAPER CLAMP: This is great! When you pull down the blade to cut your paper it has a built-in paper clamp (and Blade Guard) that automatically comes into play the second you start to pull the handle down. Keeps the paper from slipping to the right as the blade cuts through the paper. No need to hold the paper with your fingers. Just be sure you line up your paper properly against the guides before pulling down the cutter handle.IMPORTANT NOTE: the handle/blade has to be all the way up in order to slip your paper under the guide on the right side. I noticed another comment where the person said they could not get more than 2 or 3 sheets und the guide. Well, that's because they didn't have the handle/blade all the way up as far as it goes. It does not go all the way up to a 90 degree angle - instead - all the way up is about 60 degrees.SLIDING GUIDE: The little sliding guide with the red button is a dream. Works excellent and is very accurate. Just make sure you push down the little red button when sliding either left or right to your desired measurement.PRICE and SHIPPING: Over all, this is a very high quality paper cutter. Price is a bit steep but well worth it in my book. Was shipped direct from Germany by UPS. I paid $10 extra for shipping (I'm also a Prime member) and received it rather quickly. Ordered on August 21, 2021 and received it on August 27th.BABY THIS CUTTER: While it is supposed to cut up to 35 sheets of 20lb paper at a time - I will not be doing it. I'll stick to around 10 to 15 at the max. I want to baby this cutter and not over work it. Treat it good and it will treat you good and last for years and years. The blade is also supposed to be self-sharpening which is a fantastic benefit in itself.I also have a Dahle "Cut Cat" rolling cutter/trimmer (no longer available) I bought around 20 to 25 years ago from Quill. It has held up all these many years. It also has a self-sharpening blade which I only replaced one time in over 20 years. I take it easy on all my equipment, though. I never do what the maximums are, I always stay way under. Knowing the quality of my little old 12 inch Dahle Cut Cat helped with my decision of buying the Dahle 561 Premium Series Guillotine, 14 1/8" Cutting Length.HOW MUCH I PAID and WHY: because I know of the high quality and "perfectionism" of German Engineering - and German "perfectionism" in general, I had no problem paying $358.08 USD which included the $10 extra Fast shipping charge and my state tax.You get what you pay for - which is especially true when it comes to buying German made/engineered products. Actually, I think this cutter may possibly have been made in the Czech Republic but none the less it is German Engineering.I also have a stack cutter I bought on eBay (New) for a little over $100. It will cut up to 500 sheets (1 ream) of paper at a time. Problem - it does not cut straight without a lot of messing around. I will be using my new high-accuracy Dahle 561 to take it's place. The Dahle 561 may cut less sheets at a time but at least the cuts will be perfect every time without any extra effort.DON'T - DON'T -DON'T - let your kids near or let them mess around with this cutter. It's sharp and powerful.NEVER BORROW OUT THIS CUTTER: Never-ever borrow this cutter to ANYBODY. It's a very valuable investment to your creative future which you don't want to lend out to people who will NOT take care of it like you will. I learned that lesson the hard way in the past borrowing out some of my best equipment to friends and family who ended up saying: "OOPS! Sorry!". You get the picture. BE SELFISH when it comes to YOUR SPECIAL tools! Let them buy their own.If you are looking for a high quality made product which cuts accurately - the Dahle 561 could be just what you are looking for. The quality far outweighs the extra cost as compared to other similar cheaper cutters. Do your research. Watch different YouTube videos and read all the reviews and then you'll be able to make your own informed decision.

Semplicemente perfetta: pesante, robusta e precisa.

I have worked in offices for many years and this guillotine is by far the best I ever used. Most office guillotines just don't 'cut it' so to speak but this one is almost perfect. It has overcome most of the design flaws of other guillotines. The essential parts are made from metal so it will be robust. It really cuts accurately and up to 30 sheets of paper. There are three features that make this stand out from other office cutters...1) You can cut from both ends: most guillotines make you cut from the pivot end which gives more force but means you are constantly having to stretch whilst working. This model allows you to work from the non-pivot end making it far easier to work - especially when you want an accurate cut.2) Self gripping bar: this model and other Dahle guillotines have a bar which holds the paper firm as you press down the blade. This means that when you are cutting a pile of paper, it is all held firm and all the paper is cut perfectly straight. You really can cut up to 30 sheets of 80gsm paper.3) Rotary blade protector: No other guillotine has this feature which cleverly turns to ensure the blade is always safe for the user. Most guillotines have a protective shield which usually gets in the way and makes use more difficult. The rotary shield means your vision is not obscured which is very important when trying to cut accurately. My only slight gripe is regarding the guide which helps line up the paper. Although this works satisfactorily it could grip a bit tighter as it can slip if you are not careful. However, considering all the advantages over other cutters, I still think this is the best one you could buy.
